Exam Sessions
Entry into the amateur radio world normally starts
with getting an FCC amateur radio license which
requires passing an exam.
There are two groups of Volunteer Examiners in the
Black Hills Area.
Black Hills Volunteer Examiners
This group of VEs operates though the Black Hills
Amateur Radio club and during the COVID-19
pandemic is requiring pre-registration for
testing.

Hot Spings Amateur Radio
Club
This group of VEs conducts exams at the Hot
Springs Library (2005 Library Dr, Hot Springs,
SD 57747). More information can be found at

Please bring your original
license (if any) along with a copy of it, a
photo ID, and you will need either a SSN or an FRN.
Currently the exam fee is $15, please bring
check or cash. Exact change is appreciated.
